About This Dog for Adoption

Cal's ideal home

Meet Cal, a three year old ex-racing Greyhound on the search for someone to introduce him to a home environment and some home comforts. Cal is very clean in his kennel so we feel he will pick house training up in no time. Due to Cal’s racing past, he will need to be kept on lead and muzzled when out in public, which he happily wears on his walks. Therefore, he will need his own secure garden so he can enjoy some off lead time.
Cal has been enjoying doing enrichment whilst in our care and is very foody. He will try to be cheeky and put his head in a treat pouch to help himself! He has also been enjoying chasing and playing with toys, especially teddies.
Although Cal would like to be the only pet in the home, he has the potential to have some walking buddies. He could live with older primary school aged children who are confident around larger dogs as he can get a little bouncy, especially when food is about!

Could you be Cal's perfect match?

Cal is very calm and very friendly with everyone he has met and will enjoy some fuss. He’ll be your best friend in no time!

Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
