About This Dog for Adoption

Lewis's ideal home

Lewis is a handsome 6yr old Greyhound who can live with pre-school age children upwards.
Lewis needs his own garden to be able to run around in as he is currently on a muzzle training programme which the owners will be supported with moving into his new home.
Lewis is to be kept on a lead and muzzled whilst out in public due to his high prey drive.
He will need to be the only pet in the home. However, he can have canine walking buddies outside of the home.

Could you be Lewis's perfect match?

Lewis came in to us as a stray with no background information. He would like a patient household who would be prepared to help him with house training and settling him into a home environment. Once settled in his new home, Lewis could be gradually built up to being left for a couple of hours. Lewis loves being around people, is very affectionate and will lean in for a cuddle, even with new people. This happy boy loves to play with toys, chase them and have a game of tug of war.
Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
