About This Dog for Adoption

Pookie's ideal home

Meet Pookie, a stunning 5-year-old Greyhound who has recently come into our care. While we don’t have much information about her past, she’s been an absolute pleasure to look after since arriving with us.

As her background is mostly unknown, Pookie may need a little extra support adjusting to home life. This might include help with housetraining and learning to be comfortable spending time on her own, something we recommend building up gradually.

Pookie is a real sweetheart who loves meeting people. She enjoys attention, takes treats gently, and happily potters around saying hello to everyone. Thanks to her calm and affectionate nature, we believe she could live with children of any age, following a successful introduction here at the centre.

She’s playful and enjoys chasing toys around the compounds, but she’s just as happy snuggled up on a soft duvet for some quiet time. Pookie has also been friendly with other dogs on walks and could potentially share her forever home with another canine companion, again following a meet-and-greet at the centre.

Could you be Pookie's perfect match?

As a retired racing Greyhound, Pookie wears a muzzle when out walking, which she’s perfectly comfortable with.

Pookie is ready to bring love and gentle joy into a forever home—could that be yours?

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
