About This Dog for Adoption

Pie's ideal home

Pie is looking for a home with caring adopters who can take him on lots of fun new adventures and will show him what it is like to live in a loving home. He can live with children aged 6 and over who are confident with larger dogs and who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when he needs. Pie would happily live in a home with a similar sized dog with a similar bouncy and clumsy playstyle, but this is not a necessity, he would be happy with friendly walking buddies, he cannot live with cats or other small furries. He has a little training under his belt, he would benefit from training in short, sweet sessions with the help of a smelly treat, as he can get easily distracted. Because of his prey drive Pie will be going home on a lead and muzzle disclaimer, he will need housetraining and would benefit from time off lead to explore so a private, secure garden with high fencing is needed. He will settle alone so could be left for up to 2-4 hours, this should be built up gradually once he has had time to settle into his new home. Pie will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Pie's perfect match?

Super fun boy Pie is a 2 and a half year old Greyhound with legs for days! He is an absolute goofball who loves to zoom and pounce around with his soft toys, and most especially with his favourite humans. In true Greyhound fashion Pie likes a good lean, he will lean against your leg for fusses, he is such a cuddle bug! He is quite a foodie boy and likes a tasty treat, he will not take it from the hand, but will happily pick it up from the floor once dropped for him and eat it. This goofy lad is looking for his new home.

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
