About This Dog for Adoption

Jimbo's ideal home

Jimbo is a friendly boy who is on the search for a new home. While we don't know if he has ever been around children before he'll be fine to live with children of around secondary school age. Jimbo needs to be the only dog in the home. He can be reactive on walks out and about too, so would really appreciate quiet walking routes. He'd love to work on this with his new family too, as he is dog social and can have walking friends. Luckily he seems to quite like the car so could travel to quieter spots to start with. As is typical of the breed Jimbo does have a chase drive and therefore is sadly unsuitable to live with cats. He will need a secure garden of his own because he doesn't always want to go for walks at the moment and this will take the pressure off him.

Could you be Jimbo's perfect match?

Jimbo is a 6 year old Greyhound who came into our care through another charity. Not much is known about his past but he is friendly with everyone he has met here, if sometimes a bit bouncy! He has spent a short time in a home and really didn’t like being left home alone. He will need a family that are around all the time to begin with so this can be introduced slowly once he is settled. Jimbo has shown really positive associations in and around the car though, so we’re hoping he will be able to join his family on trips out and about instead. Jimbo really tries to keep his kennel clean. With access to a secure garden of his own and some tasty treats as a reward it shouldn’t take him long to perfect his housetraining.

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
