About This Dog

Hello, meet Sid.

Sid is a 3year, 4month Italian Greyhound/Whippet mix. He is fully neutered, up to date with his vaccinations (he has just had his booster) and microchipped. If you know the breed, he’s your typical couch potato who will kidnap all your blankets and hide under them to sleep!

Sid is currently working on putting on a tad bit of weight (currently 8.40 kg) as he can be a fussy eater. We’ve now found a dry biscuit and meat combo he loves, alongside fresh chicken and salmon. He also gets oil in his biscuits to help his skin and fur, which he happily eats.

Like most sighthounds, it’s important to note that he does have separation anxiety. As such Sid needs someone home all or most of the time. He will cry if left too long. I give him a chew to occupy him or set up his lick pad and pop him in his crate, but this is for no more than 2 hours maximum.

He loves the sofa, a cuddle and trying to share your jumper while you’re wearing it! He’s amazing on walks, though he doesn't particularly care for other dogs so he must be the only pet to soak up all your love. He will simply avoid other dogs and walk past them. He hasn't met cats, but given his breed mix, a cat free home would be best. He walks well on either a harness or collar.

****Things to note****
Sid currently lives with two children (ages 8 and 4) and definitely prefers older, calmer kids. My youngest is autistic and Sid can find loud noises a bit much, choosing to take himself off to a quiet spot. He knows sit, lay down, bed, and paw and he definitely needs a good window to nosey out of!

Sid gets very excitable with visitors. He’s not mean at all but he will jump up and bounce around to give licks and kisses. We usually hold his collar and ask visitors to greet him calmly. Once he’s said his hellos he settles right down and will usually lie next to or on top of them.

Greyhound Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy without you viewing it first
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website
  • Seller asks you to send money to a bank account with a different name to the person you have been communicating with
  • The dog/puppy is advertised significantly cheaper than similar listings

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
