Roscoe is looking for a loving home that offers a traditional layout with distinct rooms. He feels most at ease in environments that provide a sense of security, making open-plan setups a bit challenging for him. Access to a garden or a secure area where he can safely run and play off-lead is essential, as he has those wonderfully long legs that love to stretch and explore.

While Roscoe has had some exposure to children, he tends to feel a bit anxious around them. For this reason, he is best suited for an adult home or one with children aged 16 and over. As an ex-racer, he also has a strong instinct to chase smaller animals, so a home without cats or small furries is crucial.

Roscoe prefers a quieter environment with fewer visitors, as he may take time to warm up to new faces. He appreciates slow introductions and building trust at his own pace. However, he could potentially share his space with another sighthound, given a successful introduction at the centre.

Greyhound Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
