About This Dog for Adoption

Romeo's ideal home

Romeo is a stunning four-year-old Greyhound looking for a loving home with adult adopters. He will need a home without cats, small furries, or livestock, and he is looking to be the only dog in the home. Romeo is new to home living and will need patient and understanding adopters to help him adapt and teach him housetraining using positive reward training. Time left alone is best built up gradually. He is instantly friendly with new people and will be fine with visitors to the home. Romeo would benefit from a quiet rural home and walks as he has struggled with the busyness of the rehoming centre.

Could you be Romeo's perfect match?

Romeo loves a fuss and to snuggle in close. He is a very affectionate boy who makes friends with everyone he meets. He enjoys playing with toys especially a ball and squeaky toys. He loves to go for walks in quiet locations where he plods along gently on his lead. Romeo has happily learnt to wear a muzzle for when out and about in public places. As an ex-racing Greyhound this is precautionary to keep the local wildlife safe. He has been doing well with making friends with other dogs, he just needs some work on his greeting style. He is a big lover of food and treats and he enjoys an easy-to-do food puzzle.

Greyhound Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
