About This Dog for Adoption

Freya's ideal home

Freya is a sweet-natured 4 year old Greyhound who came to us from a racing background. She is looking for a quiet home without too many visitors coming and going as she can be a little worried by new people. Children in the home should be older teens and she has the potential to live with a friendly (neutered) dog of a similar size. She needs her own garden to enjoy with at least 5ft fencing as she must be kept on a lead in public due to her background and breed. She currently sleeps on her own downstairs with no issue and she should be fine to have a couple of leaving hours introduced once settled.

Could you be Freya's perfect match?

Freya is currently enjoying life in one of our foster homes, where it was quite clear that she had never experienced life in a home before. It took her a few days to get used to her new surroundings but with time and patience she has really blossomed into a cheeky and loving girl. She's still a little nervous out and about, sometimes stopping up to take everything in, but she has really taken everything in her stride. She loves meeting other dogs out on walks and she will often seek out a fuss from the people she knows. She will need patient adopters who will allow her the space to find her feet in the home and support her as she continues to build her confidence in the world.

Greyhound Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Greyhound Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
