Description

Miller's ideal home

Miller is a five-year-old Greyhound looking for a loving home. He could share his home with children as young as eleven-years-old, he is looking to be the only dog in the home. He will need a home without cats and small furies as he has a high chase drive. Care may be needed around livestock. When out and about on walks Miller as an ex-racing greyhound is required to wear his muzzle which he has been trained to wear, and walk on his lead. Miller has experience of home living so is used to the sights, sounds, and smells that a home has to offer. He is not used to being left alone so therefore any time left will need to be built up gradually. Miller will need a home with a garden, and would love trips to a large, secure field. He is happy to travel in the car and has history of being housetrained. Experience of the breed or doing breed research would be beneficial.

Could you be Miller's perfect match?

Miller is a handsome lad who is energetic for short, quick blasts of play, and then it is time for a nap. He loves to play with toys especially a ball. You can swap one ball for another and get a fun game going. It is a common misconception that Greyhounds need lots of exercise. It is quite the opposite! Greyhounds love to run and burn off their energy, but they can only sustain for a short amount of time and then need a good snooze. Miller adores being with you, chilling out on a nice comfy bed, or stretching his long legs out on a sofa. Miller likes to go for walks with other dogs, he gets a bit over excited when he first sees them, he has a few walking buddies here at the rehoming centre. His doggy friends will need to be of a certain size, and not small fluffy dogs. Miller is instantly friendly with new people, and as the relationship builds his affectionate side grows. He enjoys a gentle fuss and spends time in our reception office at quiet times.

Greyhound Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
