Description

Pickle's ideal home

Pickle is a wonderful and gentle Greyhound who has found himself back in our care for no fault of his own. He loves all the comforts a home has to offer like a comfy sofa for a snooze or some tasty snacks. In typical Greyhound style his long snoot can often get him in a spot of mischief and he has been known to bin raid and counter surf, so we recommend things are put away and kept well out of his reach. Pickle has been around young children and we feel he could live with any age children following a meet at the centre and providing he has a safe space in the house when he wants to relax. He could share his new home with another dog following a meeting here at the centre, however due to his prey drive he isn't suited to live with cats or other small furries. It's for this reason he also wears his muzzle out and about on his walkies. Pickle has been housetrained and quite happy being left alone for a few hours, however we recommend this is gradually built up again once settled into his forever home.

Could you be Pickle's perfect match?

Pickle did enjoy his holidays away in the caravan and travels well in the car. He's definitely more of a gentle potter kind of guy than going for long marathons but he's sure to bring lots of love to his new family. As an older boy, Pickle does have the start of arthritis which although he's not on medication currently this may change in the future.

Greyhound Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Greyhound.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
